City Hall Has Been a Food Distribution and Testing Hub Throughout Pandemic for City Residents
Attached is a letter Warren Mayor James Fouts sent to Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, Michigan DHHS Director Elizabeth Hertel and Chief Medical Executive Dr. Joneigh Khaldun urging them to consider using Warren City Hall as a vaccination hub. The letter notes that throughout the pandemic Warren City Hall has been used as a location for food distribution and free COVID-19 testing for all Warren residents.
“With multiple effective vaccines being administered across our nation, we are beginning to see some light at the end of the long tunnel imposed on society by COVID-19. The challenge now is to bring the vaccine to our residents who want and need the protection these wonders of science offer. Throughout the pandemic Warren City Hall has been a place where our residents could obtain the help they needed, whether it was food aid through our partnership with Forgotten Harvest or free COVID-19 testing through our partnership with Wayne State University. Now it’s my hope we can also help get more vaccines into residents arms right here at city hall.”
“Governor Whitmer and her team have provided incredible leadership throughout the pandemic and I want to offer her help now to accomplish the goal of vaccinating our community so we can move forward toward a better future. I’m hopeful that with the emergency use authorization for the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines, very soon the Johnson and Johnson vaccine, and President Biden invoking the Defense Production Act to ramp up additional vaccine production, that more easily accessible locations will be needed to take the vaccine to the people. I can think of no better location in southern Macomb County than right here at Warren City Hall. My administration stands ready to help Governor Whitmer get this important mission accomplished.” Said the Mayor in a statement.
