2 Robbery Suspects Arrested 3 Weeks After $8000 Bank Robbery

City of Warren police have arrested two suspects three weeks after a bank robbery in the City of Warren.

On March 9, the Our Credit Union at 5625 12 Mile Road was robbed of approximately $8,000.  Two suspects entered the bank and passed a note to the teller demanding money.  The suspects fled on foot into a residential neighborhood where a getaway car, a black Ford Focus, was waiting.  Officers, including a K9 unit, scoured the neighborhoods with negative results.

Police believe that these same suspects had canvassed the credit union in the days prior to the robbery.  Warren Detectives have been working in conjunction with Warren Special Operations and the FBI.

Following the robbery, Warren detective Kevin Daily was able to identify the first suspect as a 25-year old from Detroit.  The suspect had outstanding warrants for bank robbery and conspiracy from a previous incident.

During the ongoing investigation, with assistance from eyewitnesses, Daily identified the second suspect as a 18-year-old from Ferndale.

On March 30, through a coordinated effort with Warren Special Operations, the FBI, and Warren police detectives, the 18-year old suspect was arrested in Detroit.  Several search warrants were executed and evidence from the robbery was recovered.

On April 1, the second suspect was taken into custody by Royal Oak police for an unrelated incident.  The suspect was transported to the Warren Police Department to be processed.

Warrants for bank robbery and conspiracy were authorized against both suspects by the Macomb County Prosecutor’s office.  The suspects will be arraigned in the 37th District Court April 2.

“This is a good example of outstanding police investigative work,” said Warren Mayor Jim Fouts.  “This is why the serious crime rate is down.”  Mayor Fouts praised Warren Police Commissioner Bill Dwyer “for re-organizing the police department.”
